Biography

Tuguldur Enkhtsetseg, currently the Community-Led Conservation Project Lead for The Nature Conservancy (TNC) in Mongolia, is a dynamic conservation planner and participatory management implementer.

Joining TNC’s Mongolia program in 2009 as a Field Biologist, Tuguldur has led the development of sustainable approaches to protected areas and community-based grassland management in the Mongolian grasslands. With a background as a zoology lecturer and holding both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology and natural sciences, he has conducted influential research on Argali sheep and Siberian ibex.

His impact extends to his role as an experienced conservation planner, contributing significantly to the development of conservation planning tools at the national level for protected areas and community-based natural resources management guidelines in Mongolia.

Notably, he pioneered the SMART patrolling and monitoring tool, adopted as a national guideline for Mongolia’s protected areas network. Tuugii remains a driving force in advancing community-led conservation projects and ensuring effective ecosystem management in Mongolia, earning him respect in the global conservation landscape.
